American Excelsior Company is the inventor of biodegradable erosion control blankets. Developed in the early 1960s, Curlex excelsior blankets are specifically designed to actually promote ideal growing conditions for grass seed, while simultaneously protecting topsoil from wind and water erosion. Curlex excelsior blankets have long passed the test of time. By design, Curlex blankets have a built-in swell factor - wet curled excelsior fibers slightly expand in thickness and interlock to form a strong, fiber matrix. This allows the fibers to provide intimate contact with local terrain. Water flow is trained to follow the curled fiber matrix. The roughness of the curled excelsior matrix slows the velocity to a point where gravity takes over, which allows moisture to slowly seep into the topsoil to promote ideal growing conditions.

Curlex blankets are made of unique softly barbed, interlocking, curled, Aspen excelsior fibers. They are naturally seed free. Curlex blankets are available with a variety of environmentally sensitive and/or stronger netting types to match job site requirements in 4’, 8’ and 16’ widths. Curlex blankets are also available in “Road Runner” rolls which are typically 8’ x 550’ and have a core to be used on a stinger arm

§ Recyclex – Double-sided, heavy duty permanent netting. Recyclex is the first permanent erosion control mat made from 100% recycled post-consumer goods - "green soda bottles". There are 20 green soda bottles in every pound of Recyclex TRM.
o Applications – Turf Reinforcement Mats are designed to allow re-vegetation and provide permanent protection in areas of concentrated flow:

· Sediment Control
o Curlex Sediment Logs use excelsior fibers to reduce hydraulic energy & filter sediment-laden runoff. Sediment Logs are versatile excelsior logs comprised of an outside containment fabric and filled with unique Curlex® fibers. They also come with three other benefits: no trenching, no weed seeds and no disposal hassles.
o Applications – Sediment Logs can be used effectively as:
§ Ditches, swales, and waterways
§ Over bare soils and/or temporary & turf reinforcement mats (TRMs)
§ Drop structures and let down structures
§ 360 degree protection around catch basins & drop inlet structures
§ Curb & drainage outlets
